All’s Fair Complete

July 14th 2011

Shot in a tidy four hours this movie was a lot of fun to make. Irene Kelleher and Michelle Lehane were the two leads. The girls were brilliant and the two male stars, Bruce Coleman and William Browne took no prisoners in their roles. This was a different type of AClique movie and I’m glad to see it is proving very popular with those who normally find our movies a bit much. So if you haven’t seen it here is the link to Vimeo. And do please enjoy.

All’s Fair enters production

June 28th 2011

Rehearsals begin tomorrow on location for the next AClique movie. A short movie around 18 minutes long. Once again it is a comedy and we have a great cast in this one. Aside from a very brief cameo there will be none of the AClique regulars onscreen. So, definitely a great cast. Ha. Bit of a surprise isn’t it? Written by one of the main writers at AClique means viewers can still expect the AClique humour and style in abundance. A few scenes have some cool references to the often neglected aspects of martial arts and this occurs in a movie completely devoid of fight scenes. Over the next few days we will be testing out some of the new techniques and style better suited to capturing the AClique style. This is essential as seeking a style without a heavy influence, or rather, ripping off another film is key to being identified by your product. We are still learning and that is what makes it fun.

FCP X arrives

June 22nd 2011

Lately we’ve been trying out a few new ways of movie making. The unusual kind of stuff with varying results. The comedy is improving with the timing so it requires the audience to judge if it has worked. That is good news for them as it means new movies. Also of notable news is the release of Final Cut Pro X. That “X” is ten. Anyway, this on initial inspection seems to be a rather streamlined product. Oh, I failed to mention it is an editing program we use. Very good it is too. The 64bit usability it has increases with the ability to import any type of footage direct from other programs on your Mac. Did I mention no waiting to render? All done in the background. And look at the price. Also available are Motion 5 and Compressor at $50 each. Buy all three programs for $400 total saving you lots. The older version of Final Cut Pro Studio weighed in at a hefty €1000. Twice the power, less than half the price. Good deal. We are not endorsed by Apple. Ha.

WE GOT BLOGS

June 15th 2011

Yes sir. We just sorted our blogs out. Go to the blogs page and see what we are writing about right now. You got to see Mike’s blog background. The rest has all sorts of eclectic stuff from the mentalities making the kind of movies we make.

ACES UNDER shooting completed

June 9th 2011

We completed shooting Jason’s ACES UNDER Tuesday at midnight. A two and a half hour long shoot went without a hitch and was very enjoyable. Good craic. Thanks to Liam for supplying the location and it was great to have Wilverine back working with us on our movies. Expect to see a lot more of Will’s work in front of and behind the camera. Some changes to the script were accepted readily and thanks to Donal & Warren for supplying the recommendations. Director Jason is making serious progress editing the piece and you can look forward to a very tight movie. Photos soon.

ACES UNDER

June 4th 2011

Jason is directing his first solo script Tuesday night with Warren, Dónal & Darragh playing the parts. It also sees him operate the camera as he directs, with Kevin O’Sullivan on lights/camera assistant & Liam Óg as location manager. Rehearsals while sparse have been fun and productive. It is going to be a good one.

DICK STORY

June 1st 2011

No. It is not a porn but the next part of the STORY series of movies we are making. Looking at what worked and didn’t work in DANCE STORY has lead us to craft a more down to earth story. Expect mystery, suspense and thrilling fight scenes as Jack meets a rather strange fellow who apparently has a foot on both sides of the law.

A DAY IN ITSELF. THE PREMIERE OF COP STORY

Early one Sunday morning in June 2010, over two hundred people crowded outside the Gate Cinema in Cork City.

All had been invited to the premiere of COP STORY, the latest film from AClique Productions. There wasn't much revealed in the thirteen second promos that appeared on facebook a month before the premiere but just enough to create a buzz about the film.

Within minutes of the doors opening, the screen was completely filled. Everybody seated, lights dimmed, Liam-Og's speech delivered successfully, it was time for the first film to start. "The Sliotar" written and directed By Gavan Duffy was accepted really well, receiving a lot of laughs. Warren Bridgeman's thriller "The Odds" followed, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats and the last of the shorts but certainly not least was "Ger O' Halloran's True Stories", directed by Rob O' Halloran.

The lights came back up for Liam-Og to introduce the director Donal O' Shea and the main star of his film Jason Woodard. Donal and Jason gave a quick speech before the film everyone had come to see. The lights were dimmed one last time and the projector rolled.

The feedback was amazing and everyone enjoyed COP STORY immensely. There was a fantastic buzz in the air, which soon transferred to Suas bar where the after party got under way. Food and drink were consumed in celebration of this momentous occasion.

AClique Productions would like to thank everyone who attended and we hope you all had as great a day as we did. Looking forward to seeing you all at the next showcase event and a special thanks to Theresa and the staff of the Gate Cinema in North Main Street for being such great hosts.
