Next Up CRUNCH

March 16th 2013

Our latest short movie DEADLY RIVALS 3 has been warmly received by those lucky enough to see it. A comedy with more than it’s fair share of laughs it deals with the sacrifice one may have to make to become part of society. One particular high point was the climactic showdown involving Kevin and Warren going toe to toe for the first time. Warren did a great job in his first full on action role with Kevin proving more than a match for Warren’s irrepressible technique. It is always a good sign of a movie when people think it is shorter than it is. Time flies when having fun. The most difficult part of production was in the editing. There was so much golden material being wrestled with that didn’t make the cut.

Our man Will Browne takes on Mega Kicker Marc Redmond in the sci fi actioner CRUNCH to be shot on location in Durrus, West Cork. This shall be Will’s first leading role and boy is he ready. The guy is always in great shape and he has stepped up his training to match the physical prowess of his opponent in CRUNCH.

Marc has been busy lately what with performing stunts on Ripper Street and Vikings, two large productions for the BBC and History Channel. The fight scene in CRUNCH is of course in a different tone to his awesome scene where he battled a brutal Jason Woodard in VICIOUS.

Taking the helm on this movie is Donal and he aims to outdo Vicious both in terms of special effects and ambitious action.

Big thank you to our good friend David Norris who helped with the tidying up and adjustments made to the website. We have many more ideas to increase the information and style of the site and it is with his help we’re achieving them.

Lots more news on the way.

Some Updates

February 23rd 2013

First post in 2013. Time sure has flown. So what has been going on? Well, quite a lot really. Can’t stop, don’t stop, won’t stop ‘til we drop.

The Stranger is getting a very special soundtrack composed by a top class composer. We’re very excited about this and Jason will be meeting him really soon to sit down and jam a little over the tone he feels the movie needs. The movie looks beautiful already thanks to the General Cinematic team, Ian D.Murphy and Fergus Long who did such a great job. The fire scene in particular is striking. On the day itself which was one of the coldest of 2012 the production team worked like a well oiled machine. We didn’t skip a beat. The credits on the movie will inform as to who did what with the images onscreen as further proof of the labour.

Katrina finished Nothing Personal. Conor Dwane and Kate Fitzgerald take the leads in a story about hard times and funny times. Adam B lensed the movie with Cian Murphy doing props and sound. Now at the early stages of editing we look forward to seeing an early rough cut.

What can we say about Deadly Rivals 3? Not much really. We could tell you it is not a drama, it is not a comedy, it is not a horror, it is not a love story and it is not an action movie. If we did that then we would be fibbing. Conceived by Donal via Facebook chat with Kevin this movie is a spiritual successor to MOTDTKDIBTTDABA 2. The fun we had making Deadly Rivals 3 was immense. All the acting talent in AClique took the screen in a madcap tale of secret societies and the struggles one man has to get into to get into such institutions. Warren had his first fight scene and capably man handled Kevin in a fight for the ages.

Will Browne and Marc Redmond square off in CRUNCH. A sci fi action short from Donal sees some rather strange events force an ordinary mechanic into saving the world as we love it. Cian, Kevin and Donal have been doing some fx tests and are confident in upping the ante on yet another AClique styled actioner.

DISPOSED. Jason has crafted a nice comic short in which he will direct and star along with Pat Fitz. The poster in particular is very good and serves as a clue as to what happens in the movie. The script is very funny and knowing Pat and Jason’s real life chemistry one can be sure to expect the unexpected.

Michael O’Callaghan turned in a rather excellent script called HANGOUT. A college set comedy that explores the lengths a student will go to in order to have his life on easy street within the tight rules of education.

WITH A BANG is a bloody action movie with some new production design and special effects that is set to raise the bar with what AClique have done with action in the past. An action short, they are what our audience like and what we like to make, this sees some new talent join us in a heroic bloodshed movie that aims to blow the head off anybody who sees it.

There are many other projects on the way. Kevin is working on a few scripts, Warren has two, Jason has a web series and Donal has too many to know what to do with. All in good time.

Premiére is being planned so a lot of work to do. Exciting times.

Next On The AClique Agenda

November 11th 2012

A decent crowd showed up for the second screening of AClique’s work in 2012. Among the movies was Warren’s Easily Lost. The movie went down a treat with the audience with many a laugh shared and maybe a tear shed too in the bittersweet conclusion to his Webster trilogy. Not one to hang around Warren has already started work on his next project.

Rehearsals are well underway for Jason’s movie The Stranger. A rather ambitious script has AClique turn it’s attention to the genre our dad’s grew up loving, the Western. Six shooters, saddles, horses and ten gallon hats. Going to be a lot of fun creating this movie and already the excitement from cast and grew is intense. The rehearsals are going great with Pat Fitz, Conor Slattery, Conor Dwane and Kevin O’Sullivan playing the roles of three cowboys and a stranger. Positivity abounds.

Tom White has been working on the sequel to Father and has promised a surprise or two in that. He is also collaborating with Darragh Keating on a dramatic piece so knowing the relationship these guys have it will be a good movie.

Production has dropped in scale as some of the team are back in college/school. This has been seen as a perfect opportunity to look into areas of film making demanding meticulous attention to detail. With sequels to Cop Story, Vicious and Father lined up the demand to use these techniques to progress in production values is very high.
