‘Tis the Season

December 22nd 2015

The group are re-energised after the response our last screening received. It was really rewarding to see the audience react and to hear their laughter as each movie played. It was great craic. Is it any wonder we are raring to go for another slew of cinematic shorts? Thanks to the audience and fans of our work for their continued support and we will endeavour to create more for you in 2016 and beyond.

Kudos to the cast and crew who made this year’s productions the best yet. AClique are going from strength to strength. Thank you Team.

All that remains now is to alert those of you who missed the previous screening of a second chance to see the show in early 2016. Estimated to arrive in mid to late January. The location will be city central, will be a big screen and will have awesome sound. It also will be on at an even friendlier evening time, 8pm or so. We’ll be promoting it very soon and you’ll see the poster fluttering through cyberspace and bus shelters. Of course anybody who has already seen the show can come along and see it a second time, the more the merrier.

Now, we’re off to enjoy the holidays and get back to work.

AClique 2015

November 29th 2015

Well it is that time of year again when we roll out our latest productions for an audience to appreciate. Last year was a comedy oriented show and the 2013 affair was a far more straight laced event with some zaniness thrown in. There is a nice blend of action and comedy in the 2015 Premiere with some madcap humour and also some extreme tension. How many movies are being shown? What movies are being shown? If you want to know then you’ll have to go see them or else wait for the myriad of news reports that will pepper social media after the show. We can tell you ‘AMBUSH’, a prequel of sorts to ‘VICIOUS’ is being screened as well as ‘MONKFISH’, the rest however are being kept secret as we like surprising our audiences.

The Premiere kicks off in the Gate Cinema, North Main Street, Cork at 11:30am on Sunday the 6th December. You may want to get there right on time as all the best seats get taken quickly. So please come along on the morning of the 6th and enjoy a bunch of great movies made by us for you. Oh yes, FREE admission.

Check out the poster below.

Ambush

July 1st 2015

We returned to West Cork to lens a short action movie called ‘Ambush’ that reunited Katrina Foley, Marc Redmond and Michael O’Callaghan in a prequel of sorts to ‘Vicious’.  Kevin O’Sullivan, Adam Brylowski and Colum Flynt played some bad guys who trap Marc and Katrina on a narrow track.

The movie marked a return to the kinetic and raw style used in ‘Vicious’ featuring lots of action and stunts. Those who have seen the finished movie have been impressed by the visceral performance of the whole cast who reprised their roles after a three year gap since the former movie. We tried some new fx and production techniques and they worked a treat. Mark Moriyama was on set to capture some great moments on his camera. Here are a few choice shots.

The next project looming on the horizon is an action comedy with a large cast. More on that soon as we have more information.

Summer is here.

May 24th 2015

Summer brings with longer days and warmer nights some new projects for AClique. Not a lot to report on those so for now it would be a good time to rewind a little to catch up on what we were up to this whole time. Not sitting still that is for sure.

January brought with it cooler temperatures and a new type of fight scene. We shot two medieval combat action scenes with some of our stunt buddies who will be working on a rather TOP SECRET special project later this year. These guys are incredible and usher in a new level of fight choreography and action perfectly blended with AClique’s brand of action and excitement. Conor, Mark, Marc and Dónal took center stage for a couple of hard hitting and gut wrenching shorts. Stills and link to the video below.

Monkfish. That held our attention in March. Yup, we shot a 33 minute action comedy with Mikey Linehan as the Monk, Shane O’Brien as Charlie Filth, Bruce Coleman as Tony Tenor, Mike O’Callaghan as Paolo The Pimp with newcomer Jennifer Lipinski as Jacky. In what was a really fun and fast shoot we kind of outdid ourselves with how much we achieved in such a short time. Personally I am very proud of the cast and crew who worked on this in particular the newcomers in the fight scenes. Expect to see it later this year at our annual premiere joined by some of the productions we are creating this summer.

Beat Em Up happened in April. This was an on the spot short fight scene where Marc and Dónal continued a series of fight scenes with a running theme of intention within the action. Previously witnessed in this canon of short fight movies, Flashlight, Fighter’s Spirit and Rematch, were reasons why some folk train to fight so they don’t have to. Cian and Kevin took the camera duties for this one and what a great job they did. Link below.

So all that is left to say is we’ve been busy writing and doing the pre-production on the upcoming movies. Of course there must be a few surprises in there so more on those closer to the time when we have something to show you.

Did someone say Second Screening?

December 3rd 2014

Poster tells all.

SLAUGHTER

November 29th 2014

Shane O’Brien popped into AClique HQ to shoot a fight scene with us. This was his first time screen fighting but you couldn’t tell from the moves he executed like a seasoned pro. Great job all round.

Did someone say Premiere?

October 5th 2014

It has been officially claimed by scientists who used to work at NASA that this year has been the fastest year in living memory. By golly we believe their belief. The year has set a course for 2015 and is just sailing past us. So the usual September placeholder for our annual screening has been pushed back to November. It has a smoother sound to it compared to September. In truth the reason is to stop any potential clash with the All Ireland GAA Finals and to accommodate people who are currently studying in foreign countries, like Waterford. Mid term, couple of days after Halloween, fun time of year, it is before Christmas and so on. Fits better.

The Premiere this year is all comedies. Funny stuff happening to funny people. There are clues dotted all over this page as to what we’re going to be screening however why spoil the surprise?

Usual scenario rules apply. It is on in The Gate Cinema, Screen one, 11:30am Sunday November 2nd. Admission is free and that freedom is extended to folks who want to bring a few companions to enjoy a chuckle. That is how comedies are best experienced, with close ones. Close ones who buy popcorn that is too salty.

Here is the poster put together by Cian.

So be sure to get there early enough and bring an umbrella. There maybe tears of laughter.

Our New Stuff

August 2nd 2014

Now that we have a few more movies under our belts we can inform you as to what we’ve been doing as of late. First of all we made our first documentary style comedy. Bruce Coleman took the lead in Movie Sorcery, a movie about movie making. James O’Shea and Michael O’Callaghan also star in separate stories with in the production. We had some new faces join them onscreen in a later scene in the movie and we are very grateful for their participation in the process.

And now to Extra Martial Affairs. The craic we had making this movie was unreal. We have videos of all kicking kick shields after the shoot sending each other flying into crash mats with spinning and jump kicks to beat the band. The movie itself has William Browne play a cruel Karate instructor with a heavy penchant for hard training and strict discipline. Newcomer Mikey Linehan made his debut in an AClique movie and turned in a great performance so expect to see more of this talented actor in future. Michael O’Callaghan is yet again in top form as he tries to appeal to the cruel instructor’s humanity. Many new faces in this movie thanks to William’s own karateka.

Sleeping Pretty wrapped after a day and a half shoot. This is a departure for AClique in terms of story and style. Angela, Katrina and Michael are joined by newcomers Joy Mulcahy, Jane Layton and Erin McCarthy in a modern take on the ever popular fairy tale. We had a lot of fun making this one and definitely aim to capture more of the talent these people have in realising characters. They are also going to be writing scripts themselves so we are excited to see what they create.

Now we turn to the next crop of AClique product. There will be action, comedy and a slice of drama. The usual unusual in terms of AClique movies. More news when we have it.

Our Annual Premiére is on the horizon. It is going to be another great event.
